Taking up a new sport or activity? 4 reasons why yoga should be the first exercise you consider doing before all the others.

01:48 Melka 0 Comments

I have written an article not so long ago about all the advantages of stretching. This time I have a strong need to share with my readers what I believe should be an absolute must before they take up any kind of physical activity - YOGA. I have exercised for nearly half of my entire life and can tell you a thing or two in regards with how to enjoy sports and stay healthy throughout.

Physical fitness can have many measures - your endurance, strength, explosiveness or flexibility - they all have to be in some ways taken care of, for our bodies to work efficiently. I personally think, it's the FLEXIBILITY that needs the most attention as I have learned many people don't take it seriously, they work hard on building muscles, or to improve their speed but they overlook importance of patient and decent stretches. This is why Yoga comes to rescue and please let me share my four reasons why I think yoga should be a priority in every athlete's routine.

1). IT PREVENTS INJURIES AND MUSCLES' IMBALANCE

Let's face it, in order to fully enjoy any kind of sport, you must stay healthy. Chronic aches and pains, stiffness, strains are all effects of tight muscles, with hamstrings, calves, and hip flexors being the most neglected by their users. Put an end to all the discomfort at an instant by doing a simple yoga flow. One of my favourite yoga tutorials that are easy to follow and bring tons of immediate benefits almost from the moment you settle on the matt are those created by Rodney Yee. See this video HERE

2). IT RAPIDLY IMPROVES ALL OTHER FITNESS AREAS YOU ARE WORKING ON

Many people still associate yoga with meditative chanting and static poses. In fact, there are many types of yoga practice, from mild and gentle to vigorous and challenging. As we have already established that yoga should become crucial part of any fitness regime, it's entirely up to you which form of yoga you'd want to do. Any of them will elasticate your ligaments and muscles, will make you less prone to sprains and knotting and more like an athlete. To sum up, yoga can be a strength or cardiovascular workout itself with rapid results. Worth looking for some local studios now... or check this video HERE

3). IT TEACHES YOU TO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

In yoga, there is no place for competitive approach, no comparisons, no rivalry. When in yoga flow, you are only doing as much as your body allows you to on that day. You start understanding the mechanics of movement, how to align your body to benefit from powerful stretches, and how to oxygenate your body through deep and effective breathing. Surprisingly, correct BREATHING isn't the easiest to master, only small tweaks however, can make any other  exercise much more enjoyable and efficient. Start listening to your body through yoga today. URGENT!

4). IT REWARDS YOU WITH TIME FOR YOURSELF AND TRAINS YOUR MIND TO STAY FOCUSED

With so little free time we have nowadays, it is important that we don't waste any precious moments that we have to ourselves. Yoga does just that, whenever you decide to practice, it allows you to become more aware of your being, it gives you the time to spend with yourself, with anxiety and tension melting away as you progress through the poses, it is a way to clear the mind of worries. It has been  proved in scientific research that your physical performance depends on mindset, so don't ever neglect that powerful muscle. Namaste.

SACRIFICE A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR TIME NOW TO PRACTICE YOGA, POSITIVELY CHANGE ALL ASPECTS OF YOUR LIFE FOREVER. ENJOY ALL OTHER SPORTS FULLY.

Ishga Organic Seaweed Skincare -The Treasures of Hebrides - Review Part 1

01:31 Melka 0 Comments

When it comes to skincare choices, my main point of focus is always the formula. Ishga is a brand offering a range of products with unique Hebridean Seaweed extracts. Seaweed (Fucus Serratus) used here comes from remote hills and lochs of Isle of Lewis, Scotland. Ishga included this pure seaweed together with water from Hebridean healing springs to create a line of products with highly anti-ageing and renewing properties. Read more to find out how it worked on my skin.

My experience:

I have used the cleansing lotion together with toner for a week now, morning and evening. The cleanser removes make up easily, has a texture of a smooth lotion (see picture below, top left) which you apply with your hands on dry skin and remove with damp cotton wool. It smells pleasantly herby, slightly citrusy and fresh. The toner has a more distinctive scent, I'd classify it as earthy sweet, not sure if I can fully recognise the fragrance of seaweed here as this is the first time I have been using products packed full of marine extracts. Both Cleanser and Toner prepared my skin for serum and cream application, my skin felt refreshed, re-energised and slightly tightened.

Serum glided on beautifully all over my face and neck with its texture of a soft gel (see picture below, top right) with hardly any scent to it. The serum is mainly a marine water and seaweed extract blend which is supposed to bring the anti-oxidative benefits much quicker than the cream alone. Although I usually go for more moisturising serums, this particular one got me intrigued as it gave me an instant firming sensations to my skin. Will continue to use it to see further benefits.

Face cream was so far the most pleasurable moment within my Ishga skincare experience. It has much richer formula, with Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea Butter, Safflower Oil, Comfrey Root Extract and a Cucumber Extract, altogether with the key ingredient  - Hebridean Seaweed - can provide my skin with the right amount of protection, and moisturisation. I have used it for three days now, I like how it absorbs without leaving a greasy after effect, I risked using it under my eyes too and it seems to be delicate enough to be safely applied in that area.
It is worth mentioning that Ishga aims at all skin types ensuring effective free radicals barrier by harnessing the powers of pure marine plants.

Next up, you will find out how I got on with Ishga skincare routine extended to their Hebridean Sea Salt Scrub, Exfoliating Face Mask and Body range.

4 reasons why you must try Trilogy Face Care Vital Moisturising Cream

14:40 Melka 0 Comments

New Zealand never ceases to surprise me with their natural beauty products. This time I was lucky to try Trilogy Face Cream that by far is one of the best creams I have ever applied on my skin and believe me I went through tens of pots throughout the years. Please read on to find out why Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream is worth your attention:

1). Trilogy face cream does exactly what it says it will

The label indicates immediate hydration, repairing properties and  nourishment. It is suitable for all skin types with  recommendation for dry or damaged skin. I am excited to announce that it provides all of the above. I have noticed my skin keeps its moisture level for many hours and it is less prone to redness around the chin. The effect is visible right from the very first application. Even though it has consistency of a set clotted cream, it absorbs quickly giving a pleasant lifting feel to the skin. (don't confuse with tightening feel). I started using it underneath my eyes too and am very happy about the results. After two weeks of testing, my skin is free from fine lines, comfortably hydrated and glowing. It works perfectly as a makeup base too, allows the foundation to be spread evenly all over the face. Fantastic.

2). It packs a rich blend of organic plants' extracts

If quality natural and pure ingredients are important when choosing your skincare product, don't overlook Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream. It is a heavenly ambrosia to be absorbed into your system. Deeply nourishing and protective Organic Rosehip Oil, Bitter Orange Flower Oil and Marula Seed Oil are just a few miraculous extracts to rant about.
Soothing Aloe Vera and Chamomile Extract have cleared my complexion from irritations, whereas Carrot Seed Oil may have had something  to do with diminishing some discolourations. Another hero is Rosemary Extract that has antibacterial properties and managed to keep any breakouts at bay.

Important note: I have tested the old version of Trilogy Face Moisturising Cream, the new formula contains even more exciting actives like Lycopene, Tomato Seed Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil and can be bought here. There's also a special offer live on the website, buy two products get eye cream free, worth a look maybe.

3). It is formulated with no GMO ingredients

It is still a very controversial ground when it comes to using genetically modified plants in skincare. It can potentially cause harmful changes in the skin's cells. If you are totally against, with Trilogy Face Cream you can relax, you only get the nature at its best without any laboratory enhancements.

This cream is also paraben and preservative free.

4). It comes in a generous portion of  60g per jar

One last reason that supports my title statement is the size of a jar. It may be a trivial cause but who doesn't like a generous portion of something that works, is pleasant and healthy to use, plus it is a multitasking product, from face moisturiser through around eye area cream to makeup base. For all of these benefits you will pay around £24. An absolute bargain. It can be bought online - click here.

I hope you enjoyed this brief review, please post your questions, comments or thoughts in the mailing box below this post.
